IDB Accelerator Program is a unique initiative by the Open Source Community Africa that empowers diverse talents to ideate, design, and build open-source solutions. Whether you're technical or non-technical, our program offers the mentorship, resources, and community support you need to succeed in the world of open source.

Challenges in Open Source & Our Transformative Approach
Addressing Barriers to Diversity, Innovation, and Contribution in the Open Source Ecosystem
Core Problem
The open-source community faces significant challenges in attracting and retaining diverse talent, especially non-technical individuals. One major barrier is the lack of a clear roadmap for non-technical contributors to meaningfully engage with open-source projects. Additionally, there’s a growing demand for new open-source solutions, yet our ecosystem struggles with a shortage of innovation, particularly among startups and emerging ventures.
Our Solution
The IDB Accelerator Program addresses these gaps by offering a structured environment where both technical and non-technical participants can collaborate, guided by mentorship and practical experience. By providing the tools, resources, and support needed, we empower diverse talents to contribute to and drive innovation in the open-source ecosystem, ultimately shaping its future.
