What is the IDB Accelerator Program, and who is it for?

The IDB Accelerator Program (Ideate, Design & Build) is an initiative by Open Source Community Africa designed to empower individuals from all backgrounds to contribute to open-source projects. Our program provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and resources to help both technical and non-technical participants develop innovative, real-world solutions. If you're passionate about open-source, eager to learn, and interested in creating meaningful impact—this program is for you.

How do I apply for the program?

Applications can be submitted through our website during open application periods. You'll need to complete an online form, submit your resume/CV, and answer a few questions about your background and interest in open-source.

Is there any cost to participate?

No, the IDB Accelerator Program is completely free for selected participants. We believe in removing financial barriers to open-source contribution.

What time commitment is required?

The program typically requires 10-15 hours per week over a 12-week period. This includes mentorship sessions, collaborative work, and independent project development.

Do I need prior open-source experience?

No prior open-source experience is required. We welcome complete beginners and provide the guidance needed to get started.

What kind of projects will we work on?

Projects range from software development to documentation, design, and community building. You can propose your own idea or join an existing project that aligns with your interests.
